A FACULTY POSITION -

The Department of Statistics at UC Davis invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor from qualified individuals with a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field. The applicant is expected to have active research interests in statistical and computational methods for large and complex data. An outstanding record of research, professional activity, and teaching is expected for a tenured appointment. Demonstrated interest and the ability to achieve such a record is necessary for an appointment as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The position will begin 7/1/2008.
The Department hosts graduate programs in Statistics and in Biostatistics (for further information see http://www.stat.ucdavis.edu). UC Davis offers a broad range of opportunities for collaborations involving large and complex data, including initiatives in Astrophysics, Bioinformatics and Computational Science.

The Department of Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position, starting on July 1, 2008. This is one of six new faculty positions at UC Davis associated with a recently launched interdisciplinary cosmology initiative (see http://universe.ucdavis.edu for further details). The position offers opportunities for active involvement in exciting frontier areas of modern statistics for huge data sets in cosmology and astrophysics. Applicants should have demonstrated interest in relevant statistical fields such as pattern recognition, image analysis, Bayesian computing, or statistical machine learning.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or in a related field. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, a joint appointment with Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics may be possible.
