Major in Statistics

All statistics majors are required to meet with the major adviser to establish a Study Plan to guide the selection of courses that meet the major requirements and to ensure timely progress toward degree attainment.

  • Students are required to consult with the major advisor to establish the study plan.
  • Students are recommended to check in with the major advisor on a regular basis.
  • All courses to be used to satisfy the major requirements must be taken for a letter grade.
  • All electives to be used to satisfy the major requirements need prior written approval from the major advisor.
  • Any modification to the standard major course requirements must be approved by the major advisor and documented in writing in the student file.

Recommended for students interested in combining the statistics study with a second major or a minor program in the social and life sciences

Three elective courses outside of Statistics:

The electives must be approved by the major adviser. They should address the quantitative aspects of a discipline in which statistics is applied.
